This is taken from some footage shot sometime in 1971 at a time
when John was still doing the "creepy ghoul" persona. This footage
appeared in a recent commercial for the Dr. San Guinary Memorial
Golf Tournament.
Another shot of John from the same footage used
above.
KMTV moved thier studios to 108th & Farnam
in the late 70's - early 80's and for a while, San Guinary didn't
have a set. This was a source of frustration for Jones and the viewing
audience. Pictured here is the "under-construction" set
In this link, San Guinary is beset by two problems;
One being a building inspector who threatens to have his new set
demolished if Doc doesn't pay the $100 fine he incurred and the
other he learns his nephew has come for a visit (of which he is
NOT happy about).
In this scene, Doc realizes that his nephew Russel
might actually come in handy disposing of that pesty building inspector,
to which Igor (who's hand is in the background) agree's with his
trademark growl.
In this unusual link, a mysterious portal known
only as "The Magic Door" returns, piquing the curiosity
of the Doc.
When Doc opens the Magic door, he sees himself
playing the piano and singing a jazz tune. He remarks "Must
be a magic door, because i can't sing OR play the piano."
The main reason for CREATURE FEATURE's ultimate
end. The ratings for CREATURE FEATURE had been nothing short of
amazing prior to SNL's premiere. CF consistently held down over
50% of Omaha's late night viewing audience This GIF is a really
tacky looking station id commercial that ran during The Sherlock
Holmes Theater sometime in 1979-80. I include it here as an example
of really BAD design!
