In the days before everyone could afford vcr's, many of us found amusement at recording television shows with our little hand held tape recorders, microphones held firmly to the t.v.'s tiny speaker. I have dozens of such tapes which I listened to for hours at a time while working away at the artboard. If your in your later twenties, you probably have a few tapes of your own .

Somewhere, stored amongst the audio-recorded episodes of WonderWoman and Saturday Night Live were a batch of about 20 audio tapes of mine that were specail. These tapes held actual episodes of Creature Feature on thier dusty spindles.

I am in the process of storing them all onto disk for future reference, so as to prevent their deterioration. Audio tape wears out eventually. In fact, as I recorded the samples for this WWW site, one of the tapes decided to give up the ghost and disintegrated just as I had fininshed dubbing it to a new audio tape! This sort of event is frightening to me , as getting Dr. San Guinary/ Creature Feature is already tough enough, and I don't need anymore hurdles.

Another reason these are audio collections is that Creature Feature ran from 1971 till 1981 (approx.), just prior to the VCR revolution. There are a few fans out there with actual video tape footage of Creature Feature, but it is hard to come by.

This is a list of audio files from Creature Feature, suitable for use on your computer! This is a small sampling of the Dr. San Guinary audio I have, with much more to be loaded on in the future. From my last count, I have over twenty-five episodes of Creature Feature and related audio- samples available.

Below are a sampling of some of the Dr. San Guinary/CREATURE FEATURE sounds i have on tape. All of these have been recorded in the AU file format for your listening pleasure. Keep checking this page for new sounds.

Sound GifCreature Feature Intro(446k)
This is the regular "opening" audio to the show. The camera pans around a spooky old house that is lit with errie lighting and flashes of lightning. It's a little noisy, so be warned!
Sound GifCreature Double Feature Intro(486k)
Unlike the first intro, this is a full musical intro (thanks to Mike Oldfield's TUBULAR BELLS) with a mixed voice-over (and Dr. San Guinary at the end singing... which actually ISN't part of this intro but rather part of the bumper recorded for the episode that I got this theme music from). This "theme" temporarily replaced the other intro when the show changed it's format during the hieght of it's popularity. Eventually the show reverted back to it's original format and returned to the original intro. A little distorted, but still nice.
Sound GifIgor!(36k)
This is a short piece, with the doctor's infamous companion. The most ANYONE saw of Igor was his hairy hand and brown shirtsleeve, but his growl was one to leave an impression in our minds as kids. My brother used to hide when he growled.heh.
Sound GifDr. San's Mystery Machine(257k)
Behind the Doctor's labtable was this strange tall metal cabinet, into which San Guinary would occaisionally dispatch visitors to the show from time to time (you can BARELY see it in the postcard where San Guinary is holding the skull). Neato sound FX.
Sound GifRoll That Movie!(36k)
This is a regularly heard quote from the Doctor, ending in his famous cackle.
Sound GifAH-AH!(14k)
The Doctors infamous cackle, just perfect for your computer windows and game sounds!
Sound GifSan Guinary 's date!(171k)
Dr. San Guinary talks to the KMTV station manager about his night on the town as the food critic "PotGut". His date expresses her opinion.
Sound GifZany Zappers(198k)
This is a commercial for The Dr. San Guinary Film Festival in which the doctor explains that each entry into his contest wins a pair of "Zany Zappers", which are basically sunglasses with little LED lights imbedded in the lens.
Sound GifSpook-A-Rama Kit(207k)
This is a commercial promoting the Spookaram kits to help raise money for Muscular Dystrophy.
Sound GifWorld's Greatest Cartoons!(185k)
This is not really a CREATURE FEATURE clip per sec. This is the opening theme to the afternoon cartoon show that was on KMTV at 3:30 pm when i was a kid. I always liked that theme music and in a way, it reminds me of the times i used to watch CREATURE FEATURE. It is rather interesting and should bring back memories to some of the kids who grew up with San Guinary.
